LAS VEGAS (Jan. 7, 2024) — At CES® Unveiled today, mui Lab, Inc., the Kyoto-based calm technology startup, will unveil the market-ready “mui Board Gen 2,” the Matter controller that lets users create a restorative and low-carbon home environment through its intrinsically comforting natural wood interface. Built on the success of the original mui Board launched in 2019, “mui Board Gen 2” brings carbon footprint reduction into focus as a vital element of family wellness. It provides a suite of energy controls that will include demand-response support, daily home energy use analysis, automatic appliance adjustments to balance personal comfort versus carbon load (following future system updates), and the currently available thermostat and window-covering adjustments.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The CES 2022 Innovation Award-winning platform is Matter-ready; will enable Amazon’s Alexa to provide visual interfacing. mui Lab, Inc., the Kyoto-based IoT design startup, will showcase its “muiPlatform,” which can transform any existing smart home devices into “calmer” ones that feel more natural and effortless to use.The Matter-ready platform enables companies to either have their own calm products (be they a display, speaker or smart home device) designed from scratch, or use mui’s flagship wooden smart device control hub to deliver their services.

During CES, mui Lab will introduce the use of the mui hub board as a new calm, visual interface for Amazon’s Alexa. The “mui Platform” won the CES 2022 Innovation Award in the Smart Home category –the second time mui Lab has been awarded this honor following its 2019 win.

While modern technology benefits humans in many ways, it can also cause distraction and information overload. The “mui Platform” is a system that filters “noise” out of incoming information and passes through only what fits a minimalistic display created with mui Lab’s naturalistic UX design technology. “Our platform takes a less-is-more approach to technology to create a ‘breathing room’ in users’ minds, so technology will feel like a truly natural part of human life,” mui Lab CEO Kaz Oki said. “We believe the technology is capable of bringing out the humanness of human life and making people happier. You can now operate SwitchBot Smart Curtains and Smart Locks directly from your mui Board. With these new features, from welcoming in the morning light to ensuring peace of mind before bedtime, the mui Board is able to support more moments of your everyday life.

Smart Curtain

Now, with a single tap on mui Board, you can open or close your curtains. You can open or close multiple curtains at once, or adjust them by location, such as the living room, dining room, or your workspace. Even slightly adjusting your curtains to let in a single ray of sun on a sleepy morning is now possible from your mui Board. Example scenes:<ul><li>As you wake up, you tap the mui Board to bring the morning sunlight into your room, gently waking you up, and bringing you a refreshing start to your day.</li><li>Before you head out, close all curtains at once with a single tap and head out effortlessly.</li></ul>

Smart Lock

mui Board now also allows you to check and control the smart locks in your home. Control multiple locks at once and check if your doors are locked all on the mui board, bringing you peace of mind. Example scenes:<ul><li>You quickly see the lock status of your doors at a glance, giving you peace of mind at home.</li><li>Your doorbell rings and you unlock the door from the mui Board to welcome family or guests.</li></ul>

スマートカーテン

muiボードからカーテンの開閉をワンタップで操作できます。 複数のカーテンをまとめて開閉できるほか、リビング・ダイニング・デスクといった場所ごとに個別で操作することも可能です。個別のカーテンについては「少しだけ開ける」といった細かな調整もできます。 シーン例：<ul><li>目覚めと同時にワンタップで部屋中に自然光を取り入れ、眠気をやさしくリセットしながら、気持ちの良い一日をスタートする。</li><li>慌ただしい朝、muiボードで部屋中のカーテンを一斉に閉めて、スムーズに出発する。</li></ul>

スマートロック

muiボードからドアの施錠状態を確認・操作できます。 玄関や裏口などの複数のロックをまとめて操作することができます。また、muiボード上で鍵の状態をひと目で把握することができます。室内からドアの状態が確認できることで、就寝前や帰宅後の安心をもたらします。 シーン例：<ul><li>就寝前に、muiボードで家じゅうのドアロックをチェックし、安心して眠りにつく。</li><li>インターホンが鳴ったとき、muiボードから解錠して家族や来客を迎え入れる。</li></ul>

mui Lab株式会社（京都府京都市、代表取締役社長 大木 和典、以下「mui Lab」）とNHK放送技術研究所（東京都世田谷区、以下「NHK技研」）は、生活空間に自然に溶け込む形で放送コンテンツと出会う視聴体験の共同研究を開始しました。 本共同研究では、mui Labが日本での普及を牽引する新しいスマートホーム標準規格「Matter」と、NHK技研が標準化に寄与した放送・デバイス連携の標準規格「ハイブリッドキャストコネクト」を組み合わせ、日常生活の中で放送コンテンツに自然と触れられる新しい視聴体験の実現を目指します。両社が連携して試作したシステムは、2025年5月29日（木）〜6月1日（日）に開催される「技研公開2025」にて初公開される予定です。&nbsp;

研究の背景と目的

今回の共同研究では、放送コンテンツを、生活の流れの中で自然に届ける仕組みを検証しています。 たとえば、リビングに設置されたmuiボードが、天気や電力使用量などの暮らしに役立つ情報を表示する中で、ユーザーの関心に合った文字ニュースを表示します。文字ニュースにタッチすると、テレビに関連するニュース動画が映し出されます。さらに詳しく知りたい場合は、muiボードにキーワードを手書きで入力することで、関連動画を絞り込んで再生することも可能です。

この体験は、スマートホーム規格「Matter」と、放送とデバイスの連携規格「ハイブリッドキャストコネクト」を組み合わせた試作システムによって実現しています。&nbsp; ※この仕組みは、NHK技研との共同研究の一環として実装された仕組みであり、製品版のmuiボードでは現在ご利用いただけません。

ユースケース：生活シーンに応じたコンテンツ提示

mui Lab株式会社（代表取締役 CEO 大木和典、以下「mui Lab」）は、静岡ガス株式会社（代表取締役 社長執行役員 松本尚武、以下「静岡ガス」）とこの度、資本業務提携（以下「本提携」）を締結しました。

mui Labは、「カーム・テクノロジー」の思想に基づき、デジタルテクノロジーを「穏やかで心に寄り添ったもの」にすることで、より人が人らしく暮らせる社会の実現を目指しています。静岡ガスグループは「静岡ガスグループ2030年ビジョン※1」のもと、エネファームなどの省エネ・環境性に優れた機器の普及や「みらエコ診断※2」・デマンドレスポンスサービスの提供を通じて、お客さまに寄り添ったエネルギーの最適利用を推進しています。

両社はこれまで、静岡ガスグループ会員向けアプリ「SHIZGASアプリ※3」の開発や、デマンドレスポンスサービスの提供などにより、エネルギー利用の最適化やお客さまのQOL向上を目指して協業を進めてきました。 今後は、mui Labの持つ、テクノロジーを「穏やかで心に寄り添ったもの」にするデザインアプローチと、mui Smart Livingによる実装力、また静岡ガスグループのエネルギー領域の知見とお客さまの声によるサービスのアップデートを掛け合わせ、快適でゆとりのある暮らしの提供を加速させていきます。

また、本提携によって、多様なライフスタイルに対応可能な「ホームオートメーション」と、家電や太陽光発電などの機器を自動制御する「エネルギーマネジメント」を統合した「スマートホームサービス（以下、「本サービス」）」の共同開発を進めていきます。また、静岡ガスグループのお客さまに本サービスを提供するとともに、全国のガス会社に向けた共同販売にも取り組んでいきます。

なお、本サービスは既存住宅を対象としたサービスとして、2025年中に実証実験を行い、2026年夏頃の提供開始を目指しています。
